How to prepare for an end of lease clean

Get your bond back with less stress: what to do before the cleaner arrives.

TaskCoast teamLast updated 22 October 2026

Check your lease and entry report

Your entry condition report is the standard you'll be judged against. Note anything that was already damaged so nobody pays to fix it twice.

Book early

End of lease cleans fill up at the end of the month. Post your task one to two weeks before your move out date.

Move out first

Cleaners work fastest in an empty home. Remove furniture, rubbish and personal items before they start.

Agree on extras

  • Oven, rangehood and cooktop
  • Windows, tracks and blinds
  • Walls, skirting boards and light switches
  • Carpet steam cleaning, if your lease requires it

Do a walk through

Walk through with the cleaner at the end. Check the kitchen, bathroom and floors, and ask for touch ups before you release payment.

Tip: ask for a bond back re-clean promise in the offer. Many cleaners will come back to fix anything the agent flags.

Frequently asked questions

Check your lease. Many leases require it, especially if you have pets.
